A Natural Approach

When it comes to beauty, Jennie Fresa and her team of licensed aestheticians don't follow trends. Instead their focus is on offering non-toxic and organic services and products.

"We are a clean beauty destination, and the entire store is a curated collection of products I've vetted myself that meets our standards of clean beauty," says Fresa, owner and founder of Jennie Fresa Beauty Bar and certified aesthetician, brow stylist, and makeup artist.

Jennie Fresa Beauty Bar carries 20 different brands focusing on products that are not only non-toxic, but free from animal testing, come in "beautiful" packaging, and support women in business.

Fresa took some time out to share some of her favorite products, trends, and techniques.

The No-Makeup Makeup Look

"Right now, it's about the no-makeup makeup look," said Fresa. "It's about achieving incredible skin and designing a look that meets their personal needs and the style of a special day."

To achieve that look, Fresa recommends Coola's Daydream SPF mineral primer, Un-Cover coverup by RMS, and Antonym's Baked Foundation for a weightless, silky smooth finish that hydrates and protects the skin from the sun's harsh rays.

The Eyes Have It

"People are into a full brow, but we always service the clients' request and take the shape of a person's face into consideration," says Fresa.

In addition to making a map of a client's face to measure brows, ensuring the proper shape, Fresa recommends using a brow tint by Ecobrow to make brows look fuller.

"Eyelash tinting has become very popular and is a great alternative to having to wear mascara, especially in the warmer months," Fresa says. "It makes the eyes look wide open and really pop."

For mascara options, Fresa says her shop's best seller is by Lily Lolo.  Like all the products sold at Jennie Fresa Beauty Bar, Lily Lolo's mascara is all-natural, non-toxic, and vegan.

"Mascara was the hardest product for me to find. This one is awesome."

Face Forward

Jennie Fresa Beauty Bar is the only destination in the state that offers the Tata Harper rejuvenating facial and the newly launched non-chemical peel.

"There are so many benefits to our facials – aside from the benefits for your skins, there

is lymphatic drainage, collagen repair, and massage therapy," says Fresa. "The peel uses a combination of natural fruit acids to remove the dead skin on the top layer for minimized lines and removal of sunspots and hyper-pigmentation. There is no redness, your skin is completely refined, and there's an immediate glow – it's amazing."

In addition to the in-salon Tata Harper facial peels, Fresa recommends face masks from Nügg.

"For at-home masks, we love the Nügg collection."

A Magnetic Attraction

Activated charcoal isn't just for the barbeque, it's been finding its way into beauty products. It works by acting like a magnet to attract and absorb dirt and oil so all that's left behind is clear, clean skin. At Jennie Fresa's Beauty Bar, charcoal can be found in several products including Takesumi Detox deodorant by Kaia Naturals which combines activated charcoal and natural fermentation technology to fight odor-causing bacteria.

Little Barn Apothecary's Charcoal and Aloe Cleanser is a foaming face cleanser that draws out skin pollutants to heal and prevent breakouts. The aloe then serves to hydrate the skin, leaving behind tighter pores and smooth skin.

Plump Up with Acid

Hyaluronic acid has been rapidly gaining favor in a number of products thanks to its ability to make skin look plumper and firmer. The naturally occurring acid is found in connective tissue and skin and acts like a sponge to hold moisture in the skin longer.

Swiss Apple Facial Serum by Indie Lee is designed to even skin tone, reduce wrinkles, and preserve a youthful appearance while protecting skin from environmental stress.
