The Connecticut River Museum in Essex pulled out all the stops on Feb. 24 for swashbuckling party complete with "grog, grub, and music" with its annual Privateers' Bash. Attendees were invited to get into the sprit of the evening by dressing as pirates, and "booty" was awarded for the best costume. The Bash was a playful nod to the privateers who made their fortunes by relieving foreign ships of their valuable cargo during the War of 1812. Proceeds from the event supported the Connecticut River Museum's programs and exhibits.
