Punch to Toast With
Remember your punch bowl? Of course you do. It was the extremely thoughtful and beautiful gift that was promptly put in a cabinet. It's time for New Year's Eve parties so grab that punchbowl, and let's take a step away from the traditional Champagne toast at midnight. This sparkling punch is terrifically light but the malted grain-based genever gives it a whiskey-like depth to accompany its slight aroma of juniper. You'll want to keep the punchbowl closer to hand.
Ingredients
Ice
4 oz. simple syrup
Angostura bitters
4 oz. cold Champagne
8 oz. cold club soda
12 oz. genever
Pineapple slices and star anise pods (for garnish)
4 oz. Créole Shrubb
6 oz. fresh lemon juice
Directions
In a punchbowl, combine the genever Créole Shrubb, lemon juice, simple syrup, and 10 dashes of Angostura bitters. Refrigerate until chilled (about two hours). Stir in the Champagne and club soda, add ice, and garnish with pineapple and star anise.
