Branford High School Performing Arts rehearsed for the upcoming musical Little Shop of Horrors Friday afternoon. The show opens on Wednesday May 12th 7pm, continues May 13th 7pm, Friday May 14th, Saturday May 15th 1 pm and 8pm and Sunday May 16th at 2pm.  Limited tickets are available for live performances 100 max, COVID protocols including social distancing and masks required at all time. Virtual options are also in the works. The Legacy Theatre held a ribbon cutting celebration for their grand opening on Friday April 23, followed by a sold out performance by  Broadway and Television Star Telly Leung at 7pm. The Stony Creek Fife and Drum Corps played for a delighted crowd gathered for the Legacy's opening.

Branford Girls’ Hoops Loses Road Game Against North Haven

The United Methodist Church  held a Souper Bowl of Caring, which is a national movement working to fight hunger and poverty in the community, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church parking lot, 811 E. Main St., Branford. This was a contact-free canned soup collection event, with monetary donations collected in two pots one for the Buccaneers and one for the Chiefs. All money collected was to support the local food pantries. The volunteers gave out bowls of chili and a box of goodies. Volunteers Laurie gagne and Michael Cartwright waited on Louise Lind

The first Stony Creek Rubber Duck Race was run Sunday on the Branford River, with almost 1,000 ducks dropped from a bridge on Indian Neck Ave at 3:15pm to raise awareness and funds for the nonprofit Orchard House Medical Adult Day Center in Branford.  Hosted by John Cadillac Saville with people watching from the road, on boats, and at the Stony Creek Brewery.

On September 24th at 11:30am a funeral procession for former NBPD Sergeant Christopher Manner passed  members of the North  Branford Fire Department and North Branford Police Department, first responders and members of the community paying tribute in front of the North Branford Police Department along Forrest Rd; from which he retired in 2011 after 25 years of service. Officer Kristen Fitzgerald rode in front of the hearse, in the funeral procession.
