Food and drinks were served while live music was being played by students and local musicians. All food or money donations benefited the Deep River Food Pantry. The Guilford Parks and Recreation and the Guilford Interfaith Volunteers held their 18th Annual Patriotic Dinner Friday November 8th to honor veterans and celebrate the American Legion Post 48 Centennial. The Patriotic Dinner was held at the Guilford Community Center, proceeds from the event benefit Meals on Wheels. 

Post 48 member Tim Flood serves as color guard.

Westbrook Emblem Club 535 hosted its annual Wine, Beer, and Martini Tasting at the Westbrook Elks Lodge on Friday, November 8, 2019. There were also light refreshments and raffle prizes donated by local businesses. The Emblem Club gives back to the community by doing charitable work and are always looking for members. The event was sponsored by Westbrook Emblem Club 535 and Seaside Wines. Proceeds from the event benefit local charities and scholarship programs. Thirteen local authors shared what their books and upcoming books are about at the Hagaman Library on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Some authors read snippets from their book(s). There was a mix of genres for everyone to read. Patrick Scalisi, from Naugatuck, reads a passage from his Sci-fi book The Key to The Universe. ItþÄôs a book for all ages and Sci-fi fans will notice some easter eggs hidden in the book. ItþÄôs about Quinn and his 107 year old great grandfather who work together at a shop.
