***Announcing the 2020 class of the CPD Citizens Police Academy***
Sergeant Bryan Pellegrini and Corporal Kyle Strunjo are preparing to present the popular “Citizen's Police Academy” to a fresh new group. Meet members of your department and make friends with your fellow recruits in a fun and friendly environment. Learn about the many different aspects and requirements of how your police department works to deliver services and keep our community safe.
The course is designed to educate the general public as to the day to day operations and the inner workings of the Clinton Police Department.
The ten-week course will provide educational insight and information on topics such as: The History of the Clinton Police Department, Patrol Procedures, Criminal investigation, DUI laws, Drug enforcement, Domestic Violence laws, Traffic enforcement, Police/Community relations, Budgeting, The Judicial Process, K-9 unit, Youth crimes, as well as many other topics and occasional special guest lecturers.
Each participant of the Citizens Academy will be afforded the opportunity to go out on patrol with a Clinton police officer. Participants will also be allowed to participate in a practical shooting exercise at the police firing range.
This course is scheduled to begin on Thursday March 26th and run for approximately 10 consecutive weeks, ending in late May. The class will be held in the Community Room at the Clinton Police Department each Thursday evening starting at 6:00 p.m. Each weekly class is scheduled to last approximately three hours.
Enrollment is free and will be limited to the first 25 Clinton Residents who are age 18 or older that apply. Applicants are subject to a criminal background check. Applications may be picked up at the Communications window in the main lobby of the Clinton Police Department, located at #170 East Main Street or can download a fillable application on the Clinton Police Department’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Clinton-CT-Police-Department . Completed applications may be emailed to Sergeant Bryan Pellegrini at email@example.com or may be returned to the Clinton Police Department by March 20 2020.
