ID of Suspected Purse Thief Wanted in Guilford
Press Release from the Guilford Police Department

Guilford Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a person of interest in a larceny that occured on Monday.

Police were called to a Guilford gym on Monday, Jan. 7 after receiving a report that a vehicle had been broken into. Police discovered that the passenger side window was smashed and a purse that had been left on the passenger side floor was stolen.

Shortly after that theft, a white female with what appears to be long, dyed red hair, entered Walmart, 900 Boston Post Road, and used credit cards from the stolen purse to make a $500 gift card purchase. She attempted to make a second $500 gift card purchase but the card was declined.

On Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 3:30 p.m., the same female was captured on a security camera attempting to cash a stolen check from a Rhode Island victim in Bronxville, New York, using the stolen ID from the Guilford victim. Bank security cameras show the suspect in what apears to be a grey or silver Dodge Caravan.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of this person is asked to call Guilford Police at 203-453-8061 or via the anonymous tip line at 203-453-8240.
