This is an exciting time around the newspaper and our organization.
- We have recently launched our redesigned daily news website, Zip06.com, bringing you daily news updates, extended photo galleries, breaking news, and a platform for you to comment and join the conversation. Our readers have embraced it and are turning to it more every day. We are currently in the process of updating it to make it even more mobile-friendly as nearly half of you are coming to it via your smartphones, and we want the experience to be great!
- In October, we presented and hosted the 3rd annual Beacon Awards recognizing volunteers who go above and beyond giving selflessly to help make the community a wonderful place to live, work, and play. If you know someone that we should recognize for the 4th annual, don’t wait! You can submit now at www.beaconawardsct.com.
- We sponsor more than 50 non-profit organizations each year with advertising space in the papers to help promote their messages to our readers.
- In the Fall, we launched our interactive election platform on Zip06 to help ensure that our readers and the community has all of the information necessary to cast an informed and educated vote. We were flooded with letters to the editor and candidate profiles.
We have greatly enhanced our news coverage (to include daily and breaking new online), products, and services over the last few years and would not be able to do so without the support of our readers and the community. Last year, we kicked off a Voluntary Pay Program to help ensure that our organization could continue to not only deliver the best local news and information to you but to also continuously improve upon the coverage and services we offered to both our readers and our businesses. Your contributions enable us to do so.
We are continuing this campaign yearly so we can continue to say “yes” as local non-profits come to us as a way to get their messages out, and we are suggesting a $25 “subscription” payment for the year but we more than welcome any value contribution. Whether you participate in the Voluntary Pay program or not, we will continue to mail your weekly newspaper each week, free of charge, right to your home or business.
