Can You Name that Tree?
The Essex Land Trust offers a walking tour of the Preserve by tree expert Robert Kuchta on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. Kuchta will teach participants how to identify the trees that are common in Essex and describe their natural history and human uses. Kuchta is the tree warden in Madison, leads trips for the Connecticut Audubon Society, and has a wealth of knowledge. The event is open to all ages. Participants can expect an easy to moderate walk that is an hour and a half in duration. Participants should meet at the Preserve parking lot’s east entrance which is off of Ingham Hill Road in Essex. For more information, contact Jim Denham at 860-876-0306 or jgdenham@gmail.com.
