On June 17, 13 members of Boys Scout Troop 12 of Essex departed the Joe Dodge Lodge at Pickham Notch and ascended 4,200 feet to the summit of Mt. Washington. The scouts made the trek up the historic and challenging Tuckerman Ravine Trail. On the day of ascent, temperatures were in the 80s at the bottom and in the low 40s at the top. The weather was perfect and allowed the scouts to make the descent via Lion’s Head Trail, offering a beautiful vantage of the Tuckerman Ravine that they just climbed.
