Courtney Receives Update on DOT’s Downtown Madison Delays
U.S. Representative Joe Courtney was provided with an update on the Madison Center Project, which is slated to begin in the coming weeks, on a visit with officials from the town in downtown Madison on Aug. 21.
The downtown project, which had been scheduled to start earlier this month, was delayed a few weeks due to additional information required by Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT), since the construction takes place in a state highway right-of-way. The group also discussed the town’s negotiations with Amtrak and state DOT for the temporary use of the old train station parking lot at Wall Street and Bradley Road. The town wishes to use that lot for municipal parking, which will increase available parking on Wall Street and downtown.
Despite the rain, Representative Courtney toured downtown and the Amtrak parking lot on Wall Street after a brief meeting in the conference room at Coldwell Banker.
