Nibbles: Kasanof’s Onion Rolls
I knew there are different kinds of flu viruses out there, but whatever flu vaccine I had every season seemed to keep those other critters at bay, until this season.
When I got back from the March in D.C., something hit me with the bullet that left me weakened, feverish, and terribly sick. I was so sick that I only cooked two days out of 14, once pasta and the other a pork dish with pineapple.
The rest of the time I ate toast and tea. One day I went to Shop-Rite to buy cat food (cats didn’t have the flu) and some rolls for sandwiches. Those rolls, Kasanof’s, tasted like the ones I remember from childhood—pillowy, onion-y, and delicious. I stocked up. Now I have a few packages in the freezer, too.
