Madison 14-U Travel Baseball Wins Summer League Crown
The Madison 14-U travel baseball team won the 14-U Major Division Summer League championship of the East Shore Travel League on August 3 over Guilford with a 3-2 victory. The Tigers were up 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh with Guilford at the plate. Bases were loaded with no outs and the infield was playing in. A line drive caught by the shortstop Will Levis, who threw to second base for a force out and then the runner from third broke towards home. The second baseman Christian Bray threw a perfect throw home to the catcher Will Reiner, who made the tag at the plate-completing a triple play to end the game and clinch the championship.
Madison finished third in the regular season with an 18-6 record (21-6 overall). With their three wins in the playoffs, the Tigers defeated the No. 5, No. 2, and No. 1 seeds in the playoffs. They also won the Silver Division at the War at the Shore Tournament in July.
