HK Girls' Lax Splits Two; Boys' Tennis Falls to East Hampton

The Cougars split a pair of games this past week, defeating North Branford 17-10 on May 5 before a 19-6 loss at Hand on May 10 to move their record to 3-4-1.
Hosting North Branford, HK jumped out to an 8-5 halftime edge and pulled away late in the second half to thwart a late T-Birds' comeback. Allie Rourke recorded eight saves in goal, while the Cougars' offense was led by Angie Cretella with six goals and an assist; Brinley Anderson with five goals; and Julie Hausherr with three tallies. Katie Hausherr netted a goal and two helpers while Kali DeNisi recorded a goal and an assist and Teresa Tripodi scored a goal. Chipping in with assists were Suzie Pasqualini (2) and Kylie Cherry (1).
At Hand, the Cougars were able to keep the game close early with the score tied 3-3 midway through the first half. However, Hand then scored the next nine goals of the contest to build a 12-3 edge by halftime. Rourke recorded five first-half saves, while fellow HK netminder Lindsey Nord stopped three second-half Tiger shots. Cretella (3 goals), Anderson (2 goals), and Pasqualini (1 goal) each scored for HK, and Tripodi dished out an assist.
Boys' Tennis
HK dropped a 6-1 decision at home to East Hampton on May 5 before falling 7-0 the next day to Old Lyme to sit at 0-9.
Against East Hampton, Zach Carmichael defeated Ryan Taylor in straight sets (6-0, 6-2) for the Cougars' one win.
