Valley Gymnastics Places Fourth at States
The Warriors' gymnastics squad continued to push through its season obstacles and come out shining in a big way. It placed a strong fourth (with 125.325 points) in the Class S Championship held on Feb. 23 at Pomperaug High School-all this despite missing one of its best gymnasts due to injury.
Mikayla Connor was the day's top scorer, earning an 8.475 on vault, 8.5 on bars, 9.15 on beam, and 8.5 on floor; followed by senior captain Maggie Calamari's 8.650 on vault, 7.8 on bars, 8.1 on beam, and 8.1 on floor. Jenna Armenia scored an 8.1 on vault, 7.8 on bars, 7.8 on beam, and 7.25 on floor; while Melanie Lee had a 7.7 on vault, 6.0 on bars, 6.650 on beam, and 6.75 on floor.
