Killingworth's Green Hill Martial Arts considers itself a martial arts community, as it is run on the non-profit model and all earnings are put back into the academy itself. The academy teaches combat Hapkido and Jeet Kune Do (the martial art form practiced by Bruce Lee). Kids' and adults' classes are held separately, but all levels of experience are combined in each class to allow students to learn from one another. A full schedule of classes can be found on Green Hill Martial Arts's website.

Co-presidents and owners John Himmelman and Edward Ricciuti are both professional writers-Himmelman of children's books and Ricciuti of both adult's and children's books. Himmelman holds a second-degree black belt in combat Hapkido and fifth level in Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Do. Ricciuti holds a second-degree black belt in combat Hapkido and level three in Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Du, as well as two welterweight boxing championships.
